Modern Slavery Statement
Last updated: 30th September 2025
This statement is made in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps The Petite Cartel has taken to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains.
1. Our Commitment
At The Petite Cartel, we are a conscious and responsible brand committed to the highest ethical standards. We believe that all workers should be treated with dignity and respect, and that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our society.
Our commitment to a sustainable and ethical business model is central to our values. We work diligently to ensure that our business and all its supply chains and partnerships are free from exploitation.
2. Our Business and Supply Chain
The Petite Cartel operates as a made-to-order clothing brand based in the United Kingdom. Our business model is designed to be transparent and controlled, with a short, traceable supply chain.
Manufacturing: All our garments are manufactured in London, United Kingdom. We maintain a direct, long-standing relationship with our small, independent manufacturing partner. This proximity allows us to personally oversee working conditions and ensure compliance with UK labor laws, including fair wages and working hours.
Materials Sourcing: We are committed to sourcing our materials from trusted suppliers who share our ethical values. Our supply chain for raw materials, including natural organic and cellulose fibres, is carefully vetted. We prioritise working with suppliers who have their own ethical certifications or transparent sourcing policies.
External Partners: We work with a small number of carefully selected freelancers and service providers. We personally vet each partner to ensure they align with our commitment to ethical and fair labor practices.
3. Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We assess the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains on an ongoing basis. Given our short and localised supply chain, we consider our risk of modern slavery to be very low.
Our due diligence process includes:
Direct Relationships: We maintain a direct and personal relationship with our London-based manufacturer. We have visited their workshop and can verify their ethical practices.
Supplier Vetting: When on-boarding a new supplier, we conduct thorough research into their operations and ethical policies. We seek confirmation that they comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding labor practices.
4. Our Future Goals
As a small business, we are continuously working to improve our ethical practices. Our future goals include:
Supplier Verification: We do not currently have the financial resources to conduct in-person visits to all of our materials suppliers. However, as we grow, we will implement a more formal audit process for our key suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance with our ethical standards.
Increased Transparency: We aim to provide more detailed information about our materials suppliers on our website, including their sustainability and ethical certifications.
5. Training and Awareness
We take personal responsibility for staying informed about the risks of modern slavery in global supply chains. We are committed to raising awareness of these issues by engaging in conversations about this subject with our external partners and upholding our zero-tolerance stance.
6. Reporting Concerns
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. Any partner, supplier, or customer who has a concern about a potential instance of modern slavery in our supply chain is encouraged to contact us directly at hello@thepetitecartel.com. All reports will be treated with the utmost seriousness and confidentiality.
